About the Role :

Key Performance Measures

Purpose

The Course Assistant will monitor and support the teaching and learning process of Long Courses at the Market Photo Workshop

  • All Courses are delivered on time ensuring that all training tools and materials are ready at the start of classes
  • Ensure that all Course files are updated as per agreed systems
  • Material is distributed to students on time and the necessary documentation completed
  • Course information is updated and communicated to both trainers and students
  • Informed about policies and procedures in order to inform/remind students about relevant policies
  • Student progress is well monitored and students with learning problems are identified/reported to ensure that the relevant assistance is provided
  • Regular, comprehensive course feedback is given at the relevant meetings
  • Students are ready and well prepared for final assessment
  • Student assessment feedback and academic records are issued on time during and at the completion of the course

Ensure that Trainer invoices and any other payments relating to Courses are submitted for processing on time

Desired Experience & Qualification:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Diploma/degree in Photography, Visual Arts, Media & Journalism or equivalent
  • Successful achievement of the Market Photo Workshop Photojournalism and Documentary Photography Programme (PDP) or the Advanced Programme in Photography (APP) would be advantageous
  • Good general administration skills
  • Committed to excellence in and relevance of photography education in South Africa Ability to sometimes work under pressure
  • A proactive problem-solver
  • A confident and mature personality
  • Computer skills (MAC, PC, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office)
  • Ability to work accurately with numbers and calculations (for assessment results)
  • Attention to detail
  • Word and excel at intermediate level
  • Understand and speak a second South African official language in addition to English Excellent report writing capabilities
